Helix Arts Make Art Happen is a training programme for community and voluntary organisations who want to produce their own arts residencies or festivals. Trainees learn how to design, deliver and manage an arts project. Specific modules over 8 sessions include artist recruitment, marketing, financial control, production, evaluation, fundraising and sustainability.
The training programme gives participants the opportunity to apply their newly found knowledge and expertise in a “real life” arts programme – with support from Helix Arts Creative Producer.
Participants will then have the skills, motivation and confidence to produce their own arts programmes in their own communities.
We collaborate with community and voluntary organisations who are committed to helping individuals within their local community to set up and manage ongoing arts programmes for, and with, their local community. We recommend a joint assessment of the organisation’s level of experience at the outset to ensure we produce a bespoke, fit for purpose package.
Helix Arts MAH will require a dedicated member of staff to collaborate on the programme and help trainees keep on track. The MAH support worker will ensure the whole organisation feels ownership of the training and arts programme.
Participants are likely to have an interest in the arts already and a commitment to improving cultural and social inclusion in their community. They will need to be able to commit to the whole programme.
Recent participants have told us that:
'It’s brill. I feel great for days after I leave. It’s a real lifeline.'
'The breakdown of the modules makes it really easy to understand and remember.'
'I liked all of the sessions, but most of all I liked the discussions that we had.'
