We Got the Beat! builds on the success and learning from Youth Music funded programme Off the Beat (2016-18) and is a digital music collaboration with Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project. We are working in partnership with Inclusion North, Music Partnership North and Northumberland County Council.
Young people will create their own music, lyrics and visuals, working alongside talented artists in a variety of music and related art-forms chosen by the participants.
We got the Beat will build on inclusive music activity with young peoples’ groups at Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project. Young people in Cramlington told us of their need and ambition for music activity with professional artists, supported skills development and progression in Arts Award. They are keen to develop skills and confidence experimenting with new music co-production and to share their work with others.
Young people are at the heart of the programme and are being supported to identify, shape and build a programme that is responsive to their needs and abilities.
Funded by Youth Music
Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project performed some original tracks created as part of the We Got the Beat project on Friday 5th July 2019 at Sage Gateshead. This was the first live performance of the music, created in open access sessions that are available to all young people at Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project, and it went down a storm!
